Requirements to Ride a Motorcycle

How do I get started riding a motorcycle?

On this page we have put together all the relevant information that you need to know about motorcycle training, motorcycle tests and motorcycle licences.
Before you can ride any moped/Motorcycle you must first complete CBT, however if you took and passed your full car test before February 1st 2001 you may ride up to a 50cc Moped only, with no L-Plates, you may also take pillions but cannot ride on motorways.

A valid UK driving licence is required before taking any motorcycle test or training, this can either be a full car licence or a provisional licence.
Apply for your first provisional UK Driving Licence, Click here (Official DVLA website)
Phone number for D.V.L.A. 0300 790 6801
If you have a Full UK car licence the provisional category A, will be on the paper counterpart of your driving licence (D740)

On the theory test page, we provide links to the official DSA website, where you can find out more about the motorcycle theory test. For your convenience, the DSA allows you to practice and book your motorcycle theory test online. Currently, the test consists of multiple choice questions including a hazard perception module. This part of the test features video clips of everyday road scenes, in which you'll need to identify and respond to the hazards presented in each scenario

I have never ridden a motorcycle before?

If you have never ridden a motorcycle with gears before we would always recomend a New Rider Course first so that you can learn at your own pace and not somebody else's.
