New Rider Courses
Never ridden a motorcycle before?
In line with the Driving Standards Agency’s ideal of structured, modular training over a period of time, here at ART, we offer a variety of courses designed with the individual in mind to give you the very best start, making your motorcycle lessons safe and enjoyable.
Our New Rider Course is a two hour one to one lesson with a qualified DSA instructor on our 12,000 sq ft secure off road training pad with no pressure of having to do well in front of a group of strangers, very important if you are at all nervous or anxious about riding a motorcycle for the first time. We cannot recommend strongly enough the value of this course if you have little or no previous motorcycle experience.
Included in the course price is, motorcycle or scooter hire, ALL safety clothing and helmet use, and protection from any insurance excess, giving you total peace of mind to relax and enjoy learning to ride.
For 17 years upwards, if you have never ridden a manual bike before (with clutch & gears) our New Rider Course will give you the skills and confidence to move onto taking your CBT with ease, you will receive two hours personal tuition in the safety off our secure off road training area.
You will learn how to pull away & stop smoothly before moving onto changing gears and then slow control techniques to include figure of eights and U-Turns.
The added benefit of completing one of our New Rider Courses first, is that in the event of having any kind of "incident" on one of our motorcycle's you will be completely exempt from the insurance excess for any damage or claim (currently up to £750!) on any of our training courses that you choose to book with us.
Starting out for the first time, 16 years old?
For 16 year olds who have no experience of being on the road we offer a two hour lesson, the first hour is spent in our training school where you will practice you theory test questions and hazard perception video training before spending the second hour in the safety off our secure off road training area learning how to control a 50cc automatic scooter.
This course is ideal for making sure that you’re Son or Daughter gets the best possible start before moving onto a C.B.T.
Please note we do not have any 50cc manual mopeds (clutch and gears) sorry.
Please note that all training course lengths are determined by the individual's level of skill and competence. The number of days spent on training is advised by our instructors after an assessment of your riding skills. This assessment can be carried out when the CBT road ride (Module E) is undertaken. For examples of how many days training that may be required to reach a test standard, please read the Standard Motorcycle training page or the DAS training page
